PACIFICS COME OUT ON TOP IN PITCHER’S DUEL

SAN RAFAEL, Calif. -- The Clippers on Sunday fell to the San Rafael Pacifics, 3-0, as Logan Campbell was bested by Max Beatty in a matchup that saw each pitcher reach into the 8th inning of play in this final game of a six-game road trip for Martinez on Father’s Day.

Logan Campbell took the loss after going 7 1/3 innings for the Clippers, in his longest start to date - he allowed nine hits to the Pacifics, but only three runs, and was able to keep the Clippers in the ballgame despite the Clippers’ bats falling silent in their last game on the road before heading home once more.

Unfortunately for Martinez, Max Beatty was able to toss a complete game shutout for the Pacifics, and did so while striking out 13 and giving up only five hits. Although three of those hits were for extra bases, Beatty did not allow more than one hit in an inning, and in so doing picked up his second win of the season while facing Martinez.

San Rafael got one in the 4th, one in the 5th, and one in the 8th, all after stringing together a couple of hits (and in one case, an error) - four players for San Rafael ended the day with more than one hit, and none struck out more than once facing Campbell.

The Clippers head home for a pair of games against Napa on Tuesday and Wednesday, with first pitch scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
